***Changes to cc classes in all atv events****8/24/2009
Women’s Open Bog Classes: will be open class races for women with the same rules that apply to the regular ATV Open Class. Women may also run in any of the other classes that they qualify for at their discretion and are not limited to running in this class only. This class is for ATVs which are essentially stock or lightly modified with manufacturer’s designation. These machines may include the same performance items as specified in the Open class mud bog rules, which typically include performance pipes, jet kits. Oversize ATV mud tires or Ag tires up to 30”, and items typically installed on bikes ridden in the mud. There will be no separate distinction for IRS, solid rear axle or 2x4 or 4x4 ATVs as ground clearance is not a large advantage and the front tire will rarely be on the bottom. Double elimination – Female only – 16 years and older $5.00 per entrant per class a. 600cc and below: b. 601cc and above Mini Mud Bog Classes: The parent or guardian of each participant must be present at the event and be prepared to render assistance to the participant should it be needed. By entering this event, parents are certifying that they have inspected the course in advance of the event and that the child is of sufficient age and experience to operate his machine and negotiate the course and release Elk River RAC, all sponsors, officials and other participants of any liability in connection with accidents or injury that occur in connection with the event. Double Elimination – male or female - $5.00 per entrant per class a. Teen Class 400cc 126cc - This class will be for racers that are ages 15-13 with the same rules that apply to the stock class. This class will run in the adult pit. b. Junior Class 125cc to 90cc - The same rules for the stock class will apply and ages are 12-8 The Junior Class will run it in a separate mud pit next to the main pit. C. Pee Wee Class 89cc and below (Electric motors also allowed) - The same rules for the Stock class will apply and ages are 7 and under. The Pee Wee Class will run it in a separate mud pit next to the main pit.
Open Bog Classes: Include any ATV which has equipment such as paddles, extreme lift kits (more than 2 inches suspension lift), Ag or other tires taller than 30”, nitrous oxide, alcohol burning engine or other device which in the judgment of HL would make for unfair competition in the stock class. This class is for ATVs which are essentially stock or lightly modified with manufacturer’s designation. These machines may include the same performance items as specified in the stock class mud bog rules, which typically include performance pipes, jet kits. Double Elimination - Male or female - 16 years and older - $5.00 per entrant per class a. 600cc and below: b. 601cc and above Stock Bog Classes: Both IRS and SRA style quads will run in this class. All quads must run ATV tires (tires specifically designed and marketed for ATV use). No tracks, automotive tires, cut tires, paddle tires or agricultural tires are allowed to run in this class. Quads may run up to 3” of total lift. Quads must retain unmodified factory a-arms and stock length axles. Standard engine modifications are allowed to include big bore kits, jet kits, pipes, air filter, etc. This class will not allow special fuels such as alcohol. Turbos and nitrous are not allowed to run in this class. Axle paddles, wheel paddles, dual wheels, extended swing arms, extended a-arms, solid bars replacing shocks, etc. are not allowed in this class. This class is designed for quads (from the factory) to race with what is considered traditional or standard mud racing accessories readily available to the average rider. Any quad entered in this class that is determined by the judges to exceed this description will be moved up to the first appropriate class. Double Elimination - Male or female - 16 years and older - $5.00 per entrant per class a. 600cc and under b. 601cc-750cc: c. 750cc and up:
b. Participants may push their own ATV if they become stuck to regain forward progress but they must keep at least one foot on their ATV at all times. The only exception is that a rider can take both feet off of the ATV to save the quad from turning over. While both feet are off, no intentional forward progress can be made. The judge's decision on this is final. c. No person but the rider may touch the participating ATV during the bog. If any other party touches the participating ATV during the course of the race, the rider will be immediately disqualified. d. Boundaries of the mud bog will be clearly marked. Participants who partially leave the course with any portion of their ATV will be disqualified. e. If a rider commits a false start, (leaving the gate early) this rider will be charged one ATV length and the race will be restarted. If a rider commits a second false start, this rider will be disqualified. f. DOT Helmets & proper footwear required (gloves and eye protection are advised). Motocross style boots are not required. No oilfield/construction hardhats or military helmets will be allowed. Proper footwear includes but not limited to: Boots & Shoes that can be secured – not slip ons. Absolutely NO sandals, flip flops and any other type of open toe shoe. Rubber scuba type boots are excluded also. Racers must wear foot protection that will completely cover the foot and be secured. Any glove that covers the entire hand to the wrist is acceptable. g. All ATVs entered in this event must have a means of attaching a tow rope to the ATV should it become disabled or stuck during the event. And must be able to attach the tow rope to their own ATV. There will be a “pit” crew – who will bring the tow rope to your vehicle and can assist, but you must get off the ATV and attach the tow rope to your quad if it becomes disabled or stuck during this event. Parents may help entrants under 18 if needed to accomplish this task. h. Except for the Children classes, riders must be at least 16 to enter this event. i. All entrants must sign a waiver in advance releasing Elk River RAC, Elk River Rec District and all sponsors from liability. A parent or guardian who will execute the waiver must accompany entrants less than 18 years of age. j. No late registrations will be accepted for the Bog and Rodeo Events. There will be an additional afternoon registration period for the Tug O’ War. k. If a rider registers for the wrong class that rider will be moved to the appropriate class and given the opportunity to race. If an ATV exceeds a class then it will be bumped to the next highest class. If it doesn't meet that class, it will be bumped to the next highest class. In other words it will be allowed to run in the smallest class it qualifies for not automatically raised to the highest class. No refunds will be given if the rider chooses not race. l. In the event that any participant is observed operating his machine in an unsafe or unsportsmanlike manner he may be disqualified and excluded from competition. m. Entrants may enter any class that they are not disqualified from entering. In other words, a racer can race in their class and in higher classes. You cannot race down a class. n. Females may enter any class for which their machine and age qualifies. o. All rules are subject to modification as needed to promote fairness in the competition. p.
